Statement of Intent

A graphic designer that I would like to become is a brand and identity designer who develops a work that is beautiful, modern, and conveys a message or story to the audiences. Works that can express myself, and my life in the form of minimalism. Minimalism is a philosophy where we live with things that are most valuable and remove things that distract us. Not only remove the excess, but it will also change our life where we are able to let go of those emotions, distractions, and situations that weigh us down. This philosophy is inspired by art, and design. Additionally, the designers that live by this philosophy and inspire me are Kenya Hara, art director of MUJI, and Dieter Rams, a German industrial designer, where they convey the message and story in their works, the values of their brand, and the principles upon items creations.

Furthermore, there are areas that I need to improve for example, how to design effectively, the use of typography in minimalist design, and the balanced use of an image. However, not to only focus on skills that I'm weak in but also get inspiration from other designers and learn from them. Plus, I would like to generate more exposure to my work like to try using Behance and Dribbble to share my work with the audience. I would also like to work with a group of creative designers to share our ideas and thoughts on a project.

Also, to learn on the knowledge that makes everything simpler, and we need to know the simplicity and complexity they need each other, which means the more complexity in the market, the more something simpler stands out. Furthermore, context, emotion, trust, failure, and simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful these are also a part of laws that can be found in this book. Besides, there are three keys is relevant to the subject of simplicity, the first key is away, which says more appears like less by simply moving it far, far away. The second key is open, which represents openness to simplify complexity. For the third key is power, use less, gain more. This is a book that will simplify both your life and the things you may work on or design.

Each believes that minimalism presents a model of subjectivity, and each produces an account of subjectivity that is both embedded in the work and yet produced by the viewer’s interaction with it. Furthermore Krauss and de Duve demonstrate in their analyses of minimalism are that there are other ways of thinking about subjectivity in art. By retracing the complexity of their arguments, their explicit refiguring of subjectivity in the art can be more clearly seen.
