Interview + Writing workshop / Exercise

Updated: Jun 9, 2019

It's a 300 words essay and I have interviewed my classmate Vincent Khor. The topic that I have interviewed him was his dream. What did he dream about when he was sleeping. I'm sure that some people might remember what they dream, but some people might forget about it. So in this interview, I want to find out what does he remember in any of his dreams or does he care about it and what does he feel about it? These are all the questions I have asked, What is the most recent dream does he remember? What's the worst nightmare he had? Does he ever dream about dead people, dead friends or relative? is that a good or bad signal about it? And also question like does the dreams affect his mood? Does he ever wake up from a dream in a cold sweat? Does he believe that dreams can sometimes predict the future? Has anyone told him if he has walked or talked in his sleep? And the last question is have he ever had nightmares and what kind of nightmare is it? These are all the question that I have asked.

so what he told me was he remember some of his dreams but after a few hours he has forgotten all because he thinks that those dreams that he dreamt are not important. After that, I have asked him about the most recent dream that he can remember but still he doesn't remember one of it. He told me that the worst nightmare he had saw he jump down from a building at the same time he fall from his bed and he got shocked. Besides, he also shares with me that he didn't ever dream about dead people before but he dreams one of his grandparents and had a communication with them and then I asked him is it a good signal about it? and how he thinks about it, he told me that he didn't feel anything and he feels normal about it. He also shares with me that some of the dreams that he dreamt affect his mood the feeling he got is frustrated and doesn't have any mood on that day. He believes that dreams can sometimes predict the future because sometimes when he talks to someone he feels like he dreams the same situation before.

In conclusion, Vincent usually doesn’t remember his dreams that he dreamt before because he thinks that is not really important. For me, I will keep asking myself why? What kind of dreams is that? Will the dreams predict in the future? If yes how am I going to react? All those kind of question will pop up into my mind maybe some people care about it, some doesn’t.

Hi Yi Xin, Interesting questions and topic! now, when you're interviewing vincent about his dreams and he responded with mostly he doesn't remember. Do you find it difficult to continue with the interview? Given that your interviewee was lacking of information? How hard did you have to work to get more content from your source? Did you continue with the set questions, or did you have to improvise and come up with more relevant questions to jog his memory? Part of the exercise is to have your reflect on your experience and this exercise too. Which is why i asked the questions above. Please do make some reflections and add to your write up. Thanks!
